As I think about the motivational gifts,

I realize how lonely a prophet’s life must be.

The gift of perceiver is not always welcome.

A place for it, and for those to whom it is given, is not easily found.

Everyone welcomes those who bring mercy.

People like a servant’s heart.

Folks appreciate the teacher.

They see the need for an administrator.

The givers are sought after.

The need for a pastor is self-evident.

But people don’t always want to hear the truth.

Especially when it is desperately needed.

The one with the prophet’s gift is often avoided; even the leaders often avoid him.

It may be nice to have the prophet on stage, but they are not to get too close.

They are not surrounded by camaraderie.

They are often alone.

Connections minimal.

But as I read the Word, I see that god has a special place in his heart for those who carry His truth.

They seem to get a little more of him, perhaps to compensate for the limited lateral connections.

All in all, not a bad trade off.
