Jamie,

I love you so very much.

I’ve loved you since before you were born.

And you are so very precious to me.

I believe you’re sincerely trying to work things out.

Your efforts come out of a good heart.

Maybe you’re trying to work things out that cannot be worked out.

I cannot tell.

You may hear of things I am trying to do that you do not like.

But they are most likely misquoted, misread, or misinterpreted.

I will always be open with you about my intentions.

I always have been.

And on that basis, I make this promise to you.

I promise that I will not try to get you home through the courts against your will.

Nor will I interfere in your mother’s affairs.

(I place it all in God’s hands.)

But you must make me this promise- that you will never try to hurt yourself in any way.

You are a knight, and there is nothing you cannot rise above.

We are here to help you.

Our help is freely given.

Our only reward is to see you bloom into the wonderful man you were meant to be.

Sincerely, Your Dad
