Page 4 of 4 The idea for this story came to me during Praise and Worship at my church Cathedral of Praise on a Sunday morning service in 2003. We were singing “Here I Am to Worship” by Tim Hughes and as we got to the part that repeats “And I’ll never know how much it cost, to see my sin upon that Cross”, I saw a man in a dentist’s chair taking the discomfort of a drill so that someone else could get the benefit. Most of us cannot really relate to the torture of crucifixion, but any of us can relate to the discomfort of a dental drill. To think of someone taking that so I could be made whole gives me a new perspective on the reason for Jesus’ suffering on the cross. (Incidentally, the donuts represent our sin; it brings a moment of pleasure, but there’s always a cost!)
