The idea for this story came to me in 2003 during our “Making Peace with Your Past” group at my church Cathedral of Praise. (The group is based on the workbook “Making Peace with Your Past” by Tim Sledge.) During one of our discussions I wondered why it takes us so long to let Jesus Christ into our lives. We invent so many excuses and in doing so only delay our healing, restoration, and salvation. I wanted to show this in a story, and at the same time show Jesus’ eagerness to come in and help us.
